Remember Lot's wife - Are you willing to lose what's dear?

Luke 17:20-37.

Is God calling you, but to obey means turning your back on something you hold dear?

You may think your life and all that it makes up is important, but God sees with a clarity you can't imagine. Lot's wife did not want to give up her family, friends, possessions, job, social circle, finances, investments, house etc. Who would?

The Israelites moaned for forty years after coming out of Egypt. "We had a life there!". Trying to hold on is no life at all - and their rebellion cost them everything - forty years of constant moving, rebellion and dying - and all that in a wildnerness.

What you think you have is nought at all compared to what God offers - but to follow God requires being willing to lose the very things you hold dearest. What's He calling you to? Where is He asking you to lose your life in order that you may find it?

Don't exchange or swap God's call/life for what you think is your life. Don't pawn it - putting it off for later. Don't ignore it. If God is calling you to lose your life, it's because what you have is diametically opposite to what He has for you. And what He has for you is a quality of life your heart yearns for.

So, today, remember Lot's wife. What was going through her heart as she followed the Lord, and why did she look back..? Let us not make the same mistake.
